Jon Somers - Marketing Manager- Chef Brands

Why Westmill

Westmill offers a great level of diversity, be it our customers and consumers, our wide portfolio of brands and products or the opportunities available.  It’s this diversity that attracted me to Westmill and what makes it an interesting and motivating place to work.

As well as being a warm and welcoming business at all levels, Westmill also represents a great place to make a difference.  I am empowered to challenge the norm, express my ideas and shape the direction of my career.  An open door culture facilitates healthy discussions and offers a great opportunity to have a direct impact on the business both now and into the future.

I find there is a commitment to career development and of course being part of the ABF group offers great opportunities, in the UK or globally.

Describe your career at Westmill in 100 words

During my time in Westmill I have worked in a number of roles, giving me exposure to all parts of the business. I joined Westmill in 2013 as Shopper Marketing Manager, building on the experience I had gained doing similar roles in other ABF businesses. This role was diverse, challenging and rewarding as I worked closely across all brands across the business. In 2016, I moved into brand marketing where I managed the Rajah brand, helping to gain a deeper understanding of consumer needs and developing a brand strategy to match. More recently in 2019 I have moved to into a Marketing Manager position responsible for developing our portfolio of chef brands. I feel my journey to date is a good reflection of the personal development culture at Wetsmill and ABF.

Your favourite Westmill product

Apart from all the Rajah products of course, I’d have to say Jimmy’s Saté Sauce – I cook with it at least once a week.
