Sustainability Lead, Enfield based (flexible) with international travel

Location: North London (Enfield)
Closing date: 27 May 2022

Westmill Foods is one of Europe’s largest specialist food companies, manufacturing and suppling authentic global foods. Our end users are Asian and Afro-Caribbean restaurants and takeaways, as well as a diverse range of consumers groups. We operate in multiple channels including Asian wholesalers, mainstream grocery and B2B customers and have a strong portfolio of leading brands including Lucky Boat, Elephant Atta, Rajah, Green Dragon and Patak’s.

Our continued success depends on exceeding the expectations of our current customers as well as our ability to expand into new and emerging cuisines. We pride ourselves on our friendly, culturally and ethnically diverse environment, with a unique family feel, where everyone has the opportunity to make a difference to the business.

 What does the role offer:

We have an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about Sustainability, to lead the delivery and on-going development of Sustainability strategy across Westmill, to ensure it meets the needs of the business and key stakeholders. Reporting to the Director of Procurement, you will be responsible for leading our compliance work, ensuring that suppliers meet our stringent requirements on sustainability, as well as liaising with our manufacturing sites to ensure that environmental targets are met. You will also support the delivery of wider sustainability initiatives across the business and represent Westmill at ethical trade forums, meetings and events as required.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with energy, drive and the aptitude to work in a fast moving and dynamic team that is focused on delivering results. Whilst experience in Sustainability would be an advantage, it is not a barrier to your entry into this role. The ability to convert your energy and passion for Sustainability into tangible business results will be your biggest advantage.

Additionally, the ability to build trust and respectful relationships in a cross functional and cross-cultural environment, together with strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across all levels of the organisation, will also be critical to your success, as will your ability to manage a range of competing priorities and multiple projects. The capability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively, supplemented with strong analytical skills are also important attributes for this role.
